Human-centered Interior Environment lab (HIE lab)
인간 – 환경 사이의 다채로운 관계들을 인간중심적 관점으로 이해하고자 하는 연구실입니다.
이를 위해 뇌파측정, 시선추적, 가상현실 및 증강현실 등의 기술들과 전통적인 설문조사, 인터뷰, 관찰 등의 다양한 연구방법들을 융합하여 연구하고 있습니다. 이러한 연구과정을 통해 인간의 인식, 감성, 행동에 영향을 주는 공간적, 환경적 특징을 규명하고 이를 이론화하여 디자인에 도움이 되는 가이드라인을 제시하고 최종적으로는 현명한 디자인 결정에 도움이 되고자 합니다. 경희대학교 주거환경학과 조지영 교수가 director로 이끌고 있는 HIE LAB은 석박사 대학원생, 학부 학생들로 구성되어 있으며 미국 신시내티대 서주리 교수의 Spatial Interaction Lab 및 여러 학자들과 협력하고 있습니다.
진행중인 연구로는 (a) 창의성과 힐링에 도움이 되는 실내환경의 특성을 신경미학적 관점으로 규명, (b) 가상·증강현실 기술 활용한 공간지각능력 측정 및 향상 툴 개발- 창의성과의 관련 연구, (c) 증강현실과 시선추적 기술을 적용한 설계과정 프레임워크 제안, (d) 미적반응에 있어서 문화적, 개인적인 차이와 보편성 연구, (e) 노인의 삶을 지원하는 agetech 연구가 있습니다.
Human-centered Interior Environment lab (HIE lab) focuses on understanding multifaceted human – environment relationships with human-centered approach through diverse methods and techniques, including EEG, eye-tracking, VR and AR technologies, and traditional research methods, ultimately aiming to help informed design decisions. For such aim, we try to identify environmental characteristics that enhance human response in perceptual, emotional, and behavioral level, which results in developing interior design theory and providing design guidelines. HIE Lab consists of Ji Young Cho, director, and doctoral, master degree students as well as undergraduate students at Kyung Hee University. In addition, she collaborates with Spatial Interaction Lab, led by Joori Suh at University Cincinnati and other scholars.
Ongoing studies are (a) identifying characteristics of interior environment impacting creative performance and healing process with neuroaesthetic perspective, (b) developing spatial ability training tool for space-relevant performance, (c) developing design process framework integrating AR and eye-tracking technology, (d) understanding individual and cultural differences and commonalities in aesthetic response, and (e) agetech study supporting life of elderly.
